SONGS OF WORSHIP & CELEBRATION

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra presents the Songs of Worship and Celebration concert at the Clermont Assemblies of God Church on December 16.

This ground-breaking concert on the Day of Reconciliation in Clermont Township will feature well over 200 artists including acclaimed soloists sopranos Linda Bukhosini and Hanli Stapela and tenor Bongani Tembe. The master of ceremonies will be popular UKhozi FM personality, S’busiso Buthelezi.

In keeping with the KZN Philharmonic’s mission to advance nation-building and promote choral and orchestral music, this concert will see Africa’s premier orchestra collaborating with three choirs; the Durban and District Assemblies of God Choir, the Clermont Community Choir (Old Mutual 2010 National Choir Champions) and the perennial Durban Symphonic Choir. This highly anticipated concert will be conducted by the orchestra’s resident conductor, Naum Rousine.

Commenting on the concert James Nxumalo, Mayor of eThekwini Municipality said: “I am delighted that the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra is producing this community-based concert, particularly on the Day of Reconciliation. Music has the ability to unite people regardless of colour, religion or social standing.”

The concert will feature songs of praise and worship including highlights from Handel’s Messiah. The audience will be encouraged to sing along in a number of ‘traditional’ hymns and celebratory festive season songs, such as Joy to the World, Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful.

Songs of Worship and Celebration will take place on December 16 (Day of Reconciliation) at 15h00 at the Clermont Assemblies of God Church in Clermont. The KZNPO, in collaboration with the local councillors, has arranged security and secure parking at the venue. Tickets R50 can be purchased through Computicket as well as the participating choirs and churches at R50.
