TEST DRIVE BONANZA

The final programme in the Playhouse Company’s Test Drive lunch-hour presentations will take place on December 20.

Groups featured will be Phakama Afrika (Maskandi), Sinothando (Gospel), Ofelebe (Ingoma Yensizwa), Isiqqi Sasekaya (Isigekle) and Shosholoza (Isigekle).

The Playhouse Company’s 2011 Test Driving the Arts development initiative provide a platform for aspiring groups wanting to make the leap from the amateur to professional performance circuits, in Pantsula, Hip Hop, Gospel, Isicathamiya, Afro Jazz, Township Maskandi, Isigekle and other contemporary music and dance styles.

These events offer audiences enjoyable daytime recreation in the heart of Durban’s CBD, while also affording valuable talent-spotting opportunities for event organisers looking for fresh new artists to enrol.

Admission is free and all are welcome at these outdoor lunch hour entertainment events. Patrons can also enjoy an excellent cup of coffee and a fine selection of refreshments before or afterwards in the Playhouse’s Coffee Shop.
