TWIST THE MUSICAL

(Njabulo Mkhize, Akhona Mkhize, Simphiwe Dana, Luyanda Shabalala, Nolwazi Shabani, Xolisile Khumalo)

Stable Theatre presents Twist The Musical in partnership with Eager Artists. Written and directed by Jerry Pooe, the production is inspired by Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist.

Twist The Musical is a story of a young boy named Twist who grows up in an orphanage in a small rural village. He is ill- treated which leads to him running away to the big city of Durban. On arrival in Durban, Twist is exposed to a life he had never imagined. He lives with a gang who tries to teach him ways of survival in the big city but his conscience gets the better of him. But how far can he resist?

This is a story of pain, poverty, evil and hope but in the end, good triumphs. The story is told through powerful song and vibrant dance celebrating the spirit of Christmas, performed by Eager Artists and a talented cast of eight children and young people.

Performances will take place at Stable Theatre in the outdoor Amphitheatre, weather permitting, from December 9 to 15 at 18h30 with extra performances on December 10 and 11 at 15h00. More information and bookings through S’thabile on 083 575 0922.

Stable Theatre is situated at 115 Johannes Nkosi/Alice Street opposite the Municipal Bus Depot.
