FILMMART PROJECT SUBMISSIONS

3rd Durban FilmMart 2012 Open for Project Submissions

The Durban FilmMart (DFM) reminds filmmakers from the African continent and the diaspora to submit their film projects before the submission deadline on February 15, 2012. Producers with projects in development are encouraged to apply for this valued pitching opportunity, and co-production funding event.

Ten fiction projects and ten documentary projects will be selected for one-on-one meetings with potential investors and co-producers in the Finance Forum. Documentary projects will also be pitched to a panel of commissioning editors and funders in the DOC Circle

A co-operative project between DFO and the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) with principle funding from the City of Durban, DFM aims to develop to the African film industry by creating business and employment opportunities within the sector. Set to take place in Durban from July 20 to 23 2012, during the 33rd edition of the DIFF (19-29 July 2012), DFM will serve as the meeting place for national and international film producers, buyers, sales agents, film financiers and other film professionals who will participate in industry-related workshops, seminars and networking events– registration for these DFM programmes will open in April.

Having roots embedded in all corners of the African continent DFM has been heralded as a significant catalyst for growth of the African Film industry and a vital interface with global film sectors.

“Africa has many storytellers and we are excited to give them a platform to be heard and as well as a chance to get their foot in the door through funding and networking within the industry,” reiterates Peter Rorvik, director of the Centre for Creative Arts and the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF).

The closing date for DFM project applications is just a few short weeks away - film-makers are encouraged to submit their film project material early and be mindful of the submission deadline on February 15, 2012.
