February 2012 sees the international 80’s music celebration Rewind – The 80’s Festival hitting South African shores with the hottest line-up of pop legends from the most decadent decade in music.
The festival heads to Durban’s Kings Park Stadium on February 25, boasting the biggest outdoor line-up of 80’s recording artists and performers ever seen in South Africa. Lovers of 80’s music will be treated to the ultimate party as the city of Durban prepares for one of the biggest concerts in previous years, bringing in fans from all across the country to witness this once-off 80’s extravaganza.
Originally launched in the UK in 2009, the festival was a surprise success, attracting over 30,000 people. In its second year, the festival grew to sell-out capacity and saw the biggest line-up of artists since Live Aid. It has subsequently been touring the world to massive success.
South Africans will be treated to one of the most rocking line-ups in the festivals history which includes: Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet; Howard Jones; Rick Astley; Marc Almond - Soft Cell; Midge Ure from Ultravox; ABC – Martin Fry; Nik Kershaw; Go West; The Village People, and Imagination – Lee John.
