THE KING & QUEEN

A Right Royal Tribute to the music of Elvis Presley and Freddy Mercury...

Four years ago Heritage Theatre owner Gary McKenzie scooped a Mercury Durban Theatre Award in the category Music Revue Production for The King and Queen. Now, after countless requests to re-stage one of the most successful shows in the theatre’s seven years of operation, the show it is finally here and serves as a fitting tribute to the build up to Heritage’s seventh birthday.

The King & Queen possesses all the ingredients required for a great “table banging” bash. With such great party songs such as Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, and Teddy Bear from Elvis, you won’t be able to keep your feet still. Add to that the rousing crowd pleasers such as We Will Rock You, Killer Queen, Another One Bites The Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody, Tie Your Mother Down and We Are The Champions from Queen, will definitely have you “all shook up..”

With comical reference to the mischief of the British Royals, and featuring the greatest hits from two of the planet’s greatest artists, this promises much to sing and clap along to. The performers will also be joined on stage by assorted other “kings and queens” of the music industry.

As in the original staging, the show features the hilarious John Didlick (of Gee Jays fame) and his “drop-dead gorgeous” songbird son, Jonothan, as well as Durban actress and singer Marion Loudon who recently appeared in the Playhouse Company’s festive season production, Cinderella.

They are backed by some of Durban’s finest musicians and Heritage regulars: Dawn Selby (keyboards), Barry Thomson (guitar), Mali Sewell (drums) and Jason Andrew (bass).

There are three Promotional Specials on February 7, 8 and 9 when tickets for the meal and show are available on a buy-one-get-one-free basis.

Normal ticket prices are R190 pp Wednesdays to Saturdays (R165 pp Tuesday evenings and Sunday lunchtime) and include a two-course meal. A non-dining, “show only” option is also offered at R100 pp. Bookings on 031 765 4197 or http://www.heritagetheatre.co.za/
