Baroque 2000 launches its 2012 season in style with a concert performance of Rousseau's delightful one Act opera, Le Devin de Village (The Village Fortune Teller) on March 25 at Mariannhill before going on to tour to Pretoria and Soweto.
The production features soloists Lauren Dasappa (soprano), Warren Vernon-Driscoll (tenor) and Azola Mabutho (bass-baritone). Celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth in Geneva of Rousseau, the project is sponsored by the Embassy of Switzerland and facilitated by the Swiss ambassador, Mr Christian Meuwly.
Also on the programme is Albicastro's Concerto Grosso no 12.
The concert takes place on March 25 at 15h00 at the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill. Tickets R90 (at the door), and there is plenty of safe parking.
