AN AUTUMN RHAPSODY

As we approach the special hues of autumn light and tingle of crisp wintry evenings, Steinway artist Christopher Duigan plays a richly coloured programme of magical melodies in this special programme that features some of the world’s best-loved melodies and reflects the current seasonal change.

Music that makes the piano resonate with rich and warming colours are featured in this beautifully balanced performance. Included are the celebrated Nocturne in A-flat and Waltz in C sharp-minor by Chopin, Debussy’s Arabesque, the cafĂ© waltz Je te veux by Satie, beautifully appealing selections from contemporary film sound tracks, Mozart’s Sonata ‘facile’ K. 545 plus Scriabin's beguiling Nocturne, to be played by the Left Hand alone.

This promises to be a selection of music to enjoy with a glass of mulled wine and a bowl of soup on crisp Friday evening, or steaming coffee on a Sunday afternoon.

Performances on April 26 and 28 at 19h30 with tickets at R100 which include mulled wine, soup and coffee. Friday is a Public Holiday! A further performance will be held on April 29 at 15h30 when tickets at R100 include scones, tea and coffee served from 15h00. The concerts take place at 35 Montgomery Drive, Pietermaritzburg. There is secure parking.
