CLASSICFEEL CHINESE AFFAIR

It's a Chinese affair in Classicfeel April.

Classicfeel Magazine continues its ongoing celebration of music, art and culture around the world with a small sampling of the cultural offerings of China.

“In our cover story, we examine the work of world-class piano virtuoso, Yundi. With his latest album, the pianist, who enjoys near rock-star status in China, has turned his attention from Romantic piano masterpieces such as those of Chopin and Liszt, to the music of his homeland, including the ever-popular Yellow River Concerto,:” says editor Warren Holden.

“In other stories,” he continues, “Classicfeel looks at the ancient Chinese art of paper cutting, visits Beijing's breathtaking National Centre for the Performing Arts and speaks to award-winning journalist and author Ufrieda Ho about growing up Chinese in Johannesburg. Turning our attention away from China, we review Mozambican saxophonist-producer Moreira Chonguica's latest album and appreciate the work of Standard Bank Young Artist Award winning photographer Mikhael Subotzky, among other features.”

In addition, Classicfeel April 2012 has unmissable giveaways. Readers stand a chance of winning great new CDs, such as Yundi's The Red Piano, and Moreira Chonguica's Khanimambo; and DVDs, like Concord Nkabinde's SAMA-nominated Live in Joburg, South Africa and the stunning BBC Natural History documentary, Wild China.

All this and more in the April 2012 issue of Classicfeel Magazine, now available at Exclusive Books and CNA. To subscribe to South Africa's leading arts, culture and lifestyle publication, call 011 787 0252.
