On April 10, Friends of Music will host a recital by the trio: Liesl Stoltz on Flute and Christopher Duigan on piano with soprano Beverley Chiat.
Liesl Stoltz has won numerous first and other prizes in national and international competitions.
Christopher Duigan is one of South Africa’s most innovative concert pianists. He has been recognized as a “South African piano icon” and “national musical treasure”. In March 2010 he became the fifth South African pianist invited to join the Steinway Artists Roster - an “exquisite circle” of renowned musicians.
Beverley Chiat is a coloratura soprano from Cape Town who is well-known to Durban audiences. She has performed at all major centres of South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique and many others.
The programme comprises works by Handel; Mouquet; Schumann; Grové; Verdi; Messiaen; Ravel; Roussel; Saint Saens; Goldfaden; Yellen & Pollack; Debussy and Delibes.
Prelude Performer for the evening is William Chin, violinist pupil of Professor Lo Castro. Chin performed as soloist in 2011 with Baroque 2000 and came first at the 2011 Ethekwini Eisteddfod’s Strings Category. He will perform Sonato No.6 by Paganini; Humoresque Dveork and Czardas by V Monti.
