Intimate Encounters is a new series that showcases the virtuosity and passion of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra. Combining the raw energy of solo playing with the power of a chamber orchestra, the musicians bring to life an incredible collection of works. Classics like Ravel’s beautiful Le Tombeau de Couperin and Stravinsky’s elegant yet sassy Pulcinella Suite are paired with lesser-known gems and world premiere works by South African composers: Angie Mullins’ Murder In The Kitchen and Malcolm Dedman’s Danses Concertantes.
By breaking free of traditional expectations, the KZN Philharmonic strives to reach out to its community in new ways to create a memorable evening of wonderful music, refreshments, and perhaps even an Intimate Encounter or two.
