GRAHAMSTOWN FOUNDATION SEEKS STAFF

The Grahamstown Foundation seeks to appoint dynamic and suitably qualified venue and project staff in the following positions.

1. Theatre/Venue Manager to manage all productions and events held in the Guy Butler Theatre as well as the technical requirements for events held throughout the Monument. This diverse position requires a service-orientated individual who is able to drive technical and administrative functions as well as ensuring the smooth operation of all Monument venues and their assets. Qualifications: Ideally applicants should have a degree or diploma with seven years’ experience or matric with 10 years’ experience in the theatre industry. Management experience is also required. Proven IT and theatre technology skills including lighting and sound operations and design, and experience with advanced conference IT installations.

2. Director of Arts Education responsible for the overall management and implementation of Arts Education projects including advisory committee liaison, strategic planning, fund raising and sponsor relationship management, staff management, monitoring day-to-day project activities, and the financial management of the department. Qualifications: Ideally an arts/humanities degree with events management experience, or 15 years relevant experience. A driver’s licence and safe driving record is essential.

3. Manager/Assistant Manager/Officer working closely with the Director of Arts Education and/or immediate supervisor assisting with a multitude of tasks related to a full events management environment. Key functions include the design and implementation of arts education projects; liaising with artists & venue staff; marketing to audiences & participants; logistics relating to the programmes & participants as well as team travel; confirmation of schedules; media; temp staff management; payment schedules and financial reconciliation; proposal support, reporting and wrap up, all carried out to strict deadlines. Qualifications: Events management experience and/or a degree that preferably includes credits in journalism/communications, English, Drama, or a related arts field, or philosophy. A strong willingness to learn and research and follow previous examples. A driver’s licence and safe driving record is highly recommended.

The Foundation reserves the right not to proceed with the filling of a post. An application in itself will not entitle an applicant to an interview or appointment and failure to submit an official Foundation application form, and to meet the minimum requirements of the post, will result in applicants immediately disqualifying themselves for consideration.
