In celebration of the shortest day of the year which falls on June 20, 2012, the Mondays at St. Clements programme will celebrate National Short Story Day with the results of its Short Story Competition 2012.
The winning entry will be announced and the 50 top stories selected by the judges will be read. Readings of all stories submitted for the competition will be spread over two Mondays: June 18 and 25. All authors are invited to attend and read their stories.
Over 100 entries have been received for the competition. The judges are Graham Linscott (perhaps better known as “The Idler”), Carolyn Howie, erstwhile journalist and freelance writer; and Richard Finch (lecturer and director of Ekhaya Art Centre).
A booklet entitled Le Petit Déjeuner, including 50 of the short stories submitted for the competition in 2011 was published by the Breakfast Club.
Volume Two, including a selection of 50 short stories submitted for the 2012 competition will be published later this year.
St Clements is situated at 191 Musgrave Road on the right-hand side a short way down Musgrave after the St Thomas Road intersection. Mondays at Six run between 18h00 and 19h00. Booking is advised on 031 202 2511. There is no cover charge but there is a donations box to support presenters.
