ORCHESTRA 2012

(Richard Cock)

Anyone who can read and play orchestral music is encouraged to participate in Orchestra 2012, the 12th annual massed orchestral concert, conducted by Richard Cock.

The annual Orchestra concert is an exciting project presented by the British Cultural & Heritage Association/1820s which aims to bring together musicians from all age and cultural groups for a musical concert with a massed orchestra, under the baton of Richard Cock, to serve the interests of the arts, culture and musical education in Durban.

The last 11 concerts were a resounding success. Some 135 individual musicians registered to play in the 2011 project, along with 79 members of the Field Band Foundation’s marching brass band and dancers and 18 members of the Steel Drum Foundation band from St Nicholas School.

The concerts have done much to generate a renewed interest in amateur performing while supporting and creating awareness for the arts in KZN. To register to play, contact 031 202 6174/8 or email: orchestra@global.co.za

Orchestra 2012 takes place on August 5 at 14h30 in the Indoor Sports Centre, Westville Campus, UKZN. Tickets available at the door and seating is unreserved. More information from the British Cultural & Heritage Association on 031 202 6174.
