Sharon has been on tour in South Africa since the beginning of July. Currently based in America where she recently released a new CD Double Take featuring collaborations with Abigail Kubeka who toured America with her for a month, Sharon performs at festivals, clubs, special events and college campuses around America. Sharon returns each year to South Africa to perform and work in communities and brings visitors to see the country’s most famous historic sites as well as visit social projects that she has assisted over the years. Among these are a skills development programme in KZN, a music therapy programme she created in the Western Cape, an orphanage in Mabopane and schools all over the country.
Sharon is currently working with American film makers on a film about The Peace Train and will be back in Durban early next year for interviews with Peace Train members and their families for the film. The film will focus on the stories of some members of the group that she founded in 1992 and who travelled around the country by train in December 1993 prior to the elections of 1994 and subsequent tours across South Africa, to the USA and to Ghana. A large concert is also being planned to coincide with the interviews.
Sharon has several CDs to her credit: Crystal Journey featuring the original 500 voice Peace Train choir; the Grammy nominated Imbizo; Lerato featuring Dolly Rathebe; and Double Take featuring Abigail Kubeka. Sharon has also released several live concert DVDs.
