DARRAGH MORGAN FOR BAROQUE 2000

(Darragh Morgan)

The next Baroque 2000 Series concert taking place on September 9 will be a very special event for three main reasons:

- The guest appearance of the ever-extravagant Darragh Morgan (Violin, ex Musical Director of Baroque 2000)
- The programme will consist of not less than two concerti for four violins
- A work of the exuberant composer Johann Joseph Fux (Suite in C Major) will be presented as a South African premiere! This work includes the usual string formation but this time enhanced by two oboes, bassoon, two trumpets and timpani.

Darragh Morgan, the superb London based young violinist who performs and broadcasts internationally, was the director of Baroque 2000 from 2004 to 2005. He will also be first soloist in two concertos for four violins and orchestra; one by Vivaldi and the other by Telemann. Also on the programme are one of the Ricercars from Bach's extraordinary Musical Offering, and the first performance in South Africa of the Suite in C major for strings, oboes, bassoon, trumpets and timpani by the remarkable Baroque composer Johann Joseph Fux.

The concert takes place on September 9 at 15h00 at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery.
Tickets R90 at the door and there is plenty of free and safe parking. Enquiries to Michel at email: sursouth@iafrica.com or on 082 303 5241.
