The eight-concert spring season of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra begins on September 13 and so do the pre-concert lectures, which are aimed at increasing the enjoyment of those attending the orchestra’s performances.

The lecturers this season are Ted Brien (September 13 and 20); Lykele Temmingh (September 27); Teddy Pillay (October 4); Michael Green (October 11 and 18); Barry Edwards (October 25), and Stavros Anthias (November 1).

This season the lectures are to be given at a new venue, the Alhambra Room at the Playhouse, in Anton Lembede Street (Smith Street), Durban, opposite the City Hall, where the concerts take place.

The lectures start at 18h15 and finish by 19h00, in good time for those attending to walk across the road to the concerts starting at 19h30. Admission is R10.The lectures are non-technical and often humorous, and they include musical excerpts from the works to be performed.
