Once again, the Durban Gay & Lesbian
Film Festival will host a screening and social Pink Cinema evening at the KZNSA
Gallery as a fundraiser for the project.
This second screening bouquet will include:
United in Anger: A History of ACT UP
(USA 2012) (93min).
A powerful and well-made feature
documentary about the development of ACT UP, a movement started by gay and
lesbians in response to the sheer and audacious lack of US government help
during the early years of the AIDS crisis. This movement not only gave the gay
rights issue momentum, but the significant global response to HIV/AIDS can be
directly attributed to the high profile work of these dedicated heroes. It's
well worth watching, with a positive and uplifting message.
The screening takes place tonight
(September 28) at 19h30. The bar opens at 18h30. There is no entrance fee – however,
donations are asked for at the door.
