(“Oxalis,
Namaqualand” by Frederika Stokhuyzen)
Artisan Gallery is exhibiting new paintings
with a floral theme from top artists around the country in Flowers.
In anticipation of Flowers, gallery director Ingrid Smith has enhanced the gallery’s lighting
for better viewing of the paintings. “Spring is here so there is nothing better
than having an exhibition dedicated to the beauty of Spring. Nature fuels art
and many artists get energised by nature so the exhibition is to celebrate and delight
in colour and flowers. We are dealing with some of the best artists in the
country and are excited to host their fresh artistic approach to the beauty of
the new season.”
Eve, the impressive 3metre high statue by Carl Roberts commands
attention as one walks into the gallery. This work, as well as others by this
acclaimed sculptor, complement the floral theme.
South Africa’s top artists including
Federika Stokhuyzen and Wilma du Toit from the Cape, Gauteng’s Marita Meijer
and Durban stalwart John Smith add their personal style into the collection
which includes oil, watercolour and drawings.
Flowers runs until November 17 at Artisan Gallery at the top of Florida
Road near Mitchell Park. More information from Ingrid on 031 312 4364 or email:
