Want to learn about the great artists of
the world? Can’t afford the air-tickets and hotels to visit the galleries? Then
enjoy the galleries and collections that Google has digitised.
You may be able to find it all on your home
computer, or even your smart phone, but it is much more fun to have a guide and
discussion group. Lifelong Learning kzn is arranging to use the computer
facilities at Varsity College North every afternoon during the LLLkzn Summer
School from December 3 to 7 from 13h30 to 16h30.
“We are hoping to recruit some guides, who
will each facilitate for one afternoon, utilising different parts of the
collections (different subject-matter, or periods, or styles of art),” say the
organisers. “Volunteers for this should please email us giving us details of their
art interests. In addition, to encourage active engagement, participants will
be expected to form their own google galleries, using click and drag as on the
google sites, to display these to the class and explain their choices, during
the last part of each afternoon.
Fees: R100 per afternoon, or R200 for all
five afternoons if booked and paid by eft before November 28.
