A PIANIST’S HOLIDAY

(Christopher Duigan)

Music Revival starts the year with Christopher Duigan at the piano performing a light selection of music.

Titled A Pianist’s Holiday, this programme will also be presented, by special request, in Cape Town at St George’s Cathedral next week (January 30). The easy-going selection of favourites based on the selection included in Duigan’s CD recording Picnic Piano and Picnic Piano Encore from many years back has received much exposure on Classic FM and Fine Music Radio in Cape Town and Johannesburg. This same selection is once again set to delight with popular songs by George Gershwin, The Flight of the Bumble Bee, Scott Joplin’s ragtime The Entertainer and Pineapple Rag, Brazilian tango Reblicio and Fon-Fon by Ernesto Nazareth and music from the soundtracks to The Piano, Amelie and On Golden Pond.

A Pianists Holiday will have two performances this week in Pietermaritzburg on January 25 at 19h30 and January 27 at 16h00 at Duigan’s studio at 35 Montgomery Drive, Athlone. Performances are approximately 70 mins and parking is secure. Tickets R100 include refreshments on arrival. As is customary with the first concert of the New Year, a glass of Cap Classique will be on offer. Coffee is also included in the Sunday afternoon concert.

Booking is essential via email booking@musicrevival.co.za (preferred) or Music Revival on 033 342 3051. Please include contact numbers in both email and telephone bookings.
