Comedian/entertainer Mervyn Pillay (Back in Time and One Nite Stand) plays host and ringmaster to his new show for 2013. Featuring Pillay alongside fellow comedians Arnotte Payne (Bruin Oues Only),  and Anesh Dusrath (Tamasha aur Masti) as well as Idols finalist Lendel Moonsamy and Super Sterre finalist, Darrius Pillay, Braz Ouz opens at the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino on March 8 to run for two performances.

“Braz Ouz” (male friends), is a typical Durban term of endearment hence the title of the show Braz Ouz in Concert. All these entertainers have performed throughout South Africa, with some appearing on radio and television.

Mervyn Pillay, famed for his Bollywood impersonations and stand-up routines, has had his fair share of performing and entertaining for over 25 years. He has shared the stage with some of South Africa’s most talented comedians and musicians. This time, he plays the host and anchor of the show and promises some spanking new material for the audience, from SA politics to everything that we normally don’t want to talk about.

He brings together some of his pals in the world of comedy and music:

Singer, composer, musician Lendel Moonsamy is the “new kid on the block” who won the hearts of many admiring fans when he was placed 4th in the 2009 MNET IDOLS competition. His performances received rave reviews nationwide and he earned a special place in many hearts. Since his debut album, I Am Lendel, was released in July 2010, it has already had two singles on radio, Someday and Home again and has received strong public response.

Arnotte Payne is a motivator, comedian, actor, singer, instrumentalist and public speaker and has performed all over South Africa over the past 15 years. He has performed with the likes of Carvin H Goldstone, Eugene Khoza, Nick Ribnick, Laughing Stock, Trevor Noah, and Afzal Khan. He also won best comedian 2008 in KZN in the Madras Masala Comedy Competition. A leading newspaper rated Arnotte Payne Funniest man in South Africa February 14, 2010. He is also rated the “cleanest comedian” in South Africa.

Darius Pillay is the only contestant from KZN to have won a spot in the top ten of the hit reality series Supersterre on SABC2. Born and brought up in Durban, he is a chemical engineer by day. He began singing at the age of five and his vocal skills gained him much recognition in esteemed music circles resulting in him performing at major great theatres locally and abroad. In 2010 he was honoured by the South African Rugby Union by being asked to perform the Italian national anthem for the match between South Africa and Italy in Witbank and again called to perform the Australian National Anthem for the clash between the Springboks and Australia in August 2011.

Comedian and radio jock Anesh Dusrath is one half of the radio comedy kings duo programme Tamasha Aur Masti on Radio Hindvani, the fastest growing community station in South Africa. From appearing in concerts during his school days, he has gone on to perform as MC at functions, in radio dramas and stage plays as well as his interactive show Tamasha Aur Masti. Some of his stage works include Cassandra@ no 77, Tuckshop, Sapno Ka Safar, “Five Ball Thunee and Devil In Disguise.
