KZNPO CELEBRATES BRITTEN’S 100TH

On February 28, the KZN Philharmonic will celebrate Britten’s 100th Anniversary. The programme will include Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes and his Concerto for Violin No. 1. Also to be performed will be Beethoven’s Prometheus Overture and Symphony No. 8.

The conductor will be Bernhard Gueller and the soloist for the violin concerto will be Philippe Graffin.

Tea and Symphony, the final rehearsals for Symphony Season concerts, are open to the public and provide a glimpse into the preparation for a symphony concert. These take place on Thursdays at 10h00 in the Durban City Hall. Entrance R30 (R10 scholars) includes a cup of tea. NB: There are no open rehearsals for operatic programmes.

The pre-concert talks take place in the Alhambra Room at the Playhouse (situated across the road from the City Hall). The entry fee is R10 and the talk starts at 18h15. Michael Green will be the lecturer this week.
