ArtSMart’s classical musical critic,
Michael Green, will give the pre-concert lectures before the three final
concerts of the summer season of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concerts and lectures will be on February
28 (music by Beethoven and Benjamin Britten), March 7 (Dvorak, Engelbert
Humperdinck and Qinisela Sibisi) and March 14 (Tchaikovsky, Villa-Lobos and
Michael Hankinson).
The lectures, admission fee R10, are at 18h15
in the Alhambra Room of the Playhouse, Anton Lembede (Smith) Street, and the
concerts themselves are at 19h30 in the Durban City Hall, on the opposite side
of the street.
The purpose of the lectures, jointly
presented by the Friends of Music and illustrated with excerpts from the music
to be played, is to increase the enjoyment of those attending the concerts.
