PLATFORM JAZZ AT PARKLANE

Good news for Pietermaritzburg lovers of Dixie, Swing and good old jazz tunes is that Durban-based Platform Jazz will be playing a FREE concert at Parklane SUPERSPAR on February 13.

Platform Jazz has just enjoyed a sell-out season at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban in January. The eight-piece band is joined by vocalist, Durban’s sultry Shelley “Nightingale” McLean. They play a varied programme which will include evergreens such as Honeysuckle Rose, Tiger Rag, I’ve Got you under My Skin, In the Mood, Pennsylvania 65000, Take 5, Almost Like being in Love, and L.O.V.E to name a few.

The musos include Cathy “Hotlips” Peacock on trumpet, Pietermaritzburg’s own “Bashful“ Bruce Baker on drums and South African jazz pianist Melvin "The Keys” Peters on keyboard. Their music is finger-clickin’ and toe-tappin’ good!

The concert takes place on February 13 from 17h30 to 20h00, providing live music to entertain you while you shop! Cash bar and complimentary snacks at Dulce Coffee Shop at Parklane SUPERSPAR.
