Arts Interactive is an interactive
group/gathering of those interested in the betterment of the visual arts which
takes place on the second Wednesday of every month.
The guest artist on March 13 will be well-known
artist/sculptor, Barbara Siedle.
Art - be it painting, sculpture or any
other form - is far more than just a superficial image. It is essentially an extension
of self. Each work reflects the artist, their inner being and the world of
which they are a part.
World War II had huge impact, not only with
the physical devastation but also the consequential emotional and spiritual repercussions,
as reflected largely through the arts.
Barbara Siedle will be looking at the work
of the Italian artist, Marino Marini (1901-1980), particularly his Horse and Rider series, where his
sensitive and sensuous exploration of the surface textures make his bronze
sculptures so remarkable. This well-illustrated talk about a fascinating artist
is highly recommended.
Arts Interactive takes place on March 13 at
18h00 for 18h30 at the Hellenic Hall, Browns Drift in Durban North in the pub
area – Eat Greek. Entry R60/head includes a meal provided by Eat Greek. Drinks
can be purchased and there is secure parking.
