The tranquil Underberg farm on which the
annual Splashy Fen Music Festival is held, will soon transform into a colourful
tent town when thousands of people from around South Africa and beyond descend
on the southern Drakensberg this Easter (March 28 to April 1) for a long
weekend of great live music in a spectacular mountain setting.
Included on the bill for Splashy Fen #24
are the likes of Mi Casa, Gazelle and inviZAble, The Muffinz, Gangs of Ballet,
December Streets, The Ard Matthews Affair, Desmond & The Tutus, Matthew
Mole, Dave Ferguson, ISO, Anton Cawthorn-Blazeby, City Bowl Mizers, Veranda
Panda, Dan Patlansky, Josie Field and Laurie Levine, among many others.
Expect a multi-genre line-up of close to
100 of the country’s hottest acts, top-class sound and lighting, as well as
sidesplitting stand-up comedy, a vibrant craft market and retail area, plus food
and drink outlets offering everything from Chinese and Indian cuisine to sushi,
potjiekos, pizza, pasta, shwarmas, smoothies, speciality coffees and authentic
vegetarian meals.
New this year is Silent Disco and the Red
Bull ‘Water Wings’ riverstage, where festival-goers can float along on their
tubes and lilos while listening to some cool sounds.
Camping for the entire four-night, five-day
festival is included in the ticket price. Another option is a new on-site ‘tent

offering a more glamorous camping experience with all the comforts of home! There
is also a separate family campsite, which is the ideal spot for festival-goers
with young children, as well as a Children’s Centre which offers fun activities
and an evening child-minding service.
