The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at
the University of KwaZulu Natal welcomes the Mthobisi Mthalane band on April
17.
The band is led by Dip Music graduate,
Mthobisi Mthalane, a well-respected pianist, composer, educator and producer.
Mthalane has worked with high profile artists such as Dorothy Masuku, Ntando,
Rebecca Maloepe, and Benjamin Dube. He has worked as the music director at the
SABC Gospel Crown Award , and the Satma Awards.
Mthobisi Mthalane (piano) will feature Wake
Mahlobo (drums), Mbuso Sokhela (bass), Mabutho Ntombela (bass), Vusi Mkhize
(guitar), Siya Zuma (vocals), Buti Manzi, (vocals) , Eric Duma (trumpet),
Mxolisi Mdlalose (sax) and Khaya Dlamini (tenor sax).
The performance takes place at 18h00 on
April 17 at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music (CJPM), Level 2, Shepstone
Building at UKZN Howard College Campus . Entry fee R35 (R20 pensioners/R10 students).
