Bailey which runs from April 19

Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp return in
Sally Wainwright’s Scott & Bailey,
her investigative drama exploring the personal and professional lives of two
female detectives.
Rachel Bailey and Janet Scott are
detectives with Manchester Metropolitan Police’s prestigious Murder
Investigation Team. Rachel is energetic, impulsive, and bold. Janet is subtle,
reliable and a diplomatic thinker with a wry sense of humour, which makes her
the perfect foil for Rachel.
Each episode sees Rachel and Janet deal
with serious crimes that are both challenging and emotionally difficult as well
as cope with their own complex personal lives.
Stories for this series include the brutal
murders of two men, months apart. Can Rachel and Janet discover the connection
between them? A recent murder bears a striking similarity to those committed by
a known serial killer: Jeremy Leach. But Leach has been in prison for the last
13 years. Rachel and her boss, DCI Gill Murray, look into whether there is a
copy cat killer or if Leach is an innocent victim, framed for crimes he didn’t
commit.
Janet is asked to interview the man who
killed her childhood friend, Veronica. Are there other crimes he’s hidden?
Elsewhere, Janet splits with her husband and struggles to run her family
without his support. With her office fling Andy Roper still on the scene, Janet
needs to make sure she knows exactly what she wants.
Sean, an old boyfriend of Rachel’s, comes
back into her life. They haven’t seen each other for 10 years, but Sean is
funny, sexy, uncomplicated and the complete opposite of Rachel’s ex, Nick
Savage. He’s determined to win Rachel – could she be tempted?
And Rachel’s wayward brother Dom turns up
on her doorstep. He’s just been released from prison and has nowhere else to
go. But can Rachel trust him?
