In this light and immensely likeable rom-com, Hugh Grant (About a Boy, Four Weddings and a Funeral)
plays a washed-up music idol who once fronted a chart-topping pop group in the
vein of Wham! and Duran Duran. Now, he is trying to make a comeback by writing
a song for a young, rising star.
Faced with paralysing writer’s block, he stumbles on to the
fact that the woman who waters his flowers (Drew Barrymore: The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates) has
a flair for words. He enlists her talents to help him write the lyrics to a
sure-fire hit song - but then, inevitably, real-life romantic entanglements
enter the picture to complicate matters even further.
