Series 9 of Dragon’s Den will be screened on BBC Knowledge (channel 184 on DStv)
from May 14 at 19h00 on and will continue on weekdays (except Friday) at the
same time.
Evan Davis presents the popular business
ideas contest, and there is a new Dragon in town, as haulage industry expert
Hilary Devey joins Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis, Deborah Meaden and Duncan Bannatyne
to evaluate pitches from entrepreneurs.
Members of the public are invited to
propose their business schemes to the intimidating Dragons. Each entrepreneur
has three minutes to introduce their idea, the investment they desire and
perform what they hope will be an engaging pitch before coming under the
scrutiny of the Dragons in what can often become a tense question and answer
session.
In series 9 some of the standout proposals
include a fancy dress venture, an unusual use for a plastic egg, a car that
thinks it’s a bike and a Mexican food range. Many visitors to the Den are very
particular about their requirements from a potential investor, often with mixed
results and when a young businessmen tries for the biggest cash investment ever
achieved on the show eyebrows are understandably raised.
