Running at the COLLECTIVE is the Figured Out Exhibition.
The representation of the human figure has
been the subject of artworks since prehistoric times. There is no generic
approach of depicting the form. The representations range from extremely
realistic through to loose abstract. The form and styles of human figures
mirror the ideas of the cultures creating them. Figured out is a compilation of artworks that depict the different
functions that the human figure serves to communicate the ideas and aspirations
of the artist.
Participating artists include Di van Wyk,
Khulekani Ngubane, Barry Martin, Dane Knudsen, Heather Pattenden, Samantha
Boock and Dexter Sagar.
The exhibition will run until June 1 at
14h00. The COLLECTIVE is situated at 48b Florida Road (entrance in Fourth Avenue),
Greyville, Durban. More information from the COLLECTIVE Team of Lisa Herselman
