KZN YOUNG PERFORMERS



Presented by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in association with the South African Society of Music Teachers, the KZN Young Performers concert will take place on May 18 at the Playhouse. The conductor will be Naum Rousine with Janet Welch as Master of Ceremonies.

The programme starts off with Weber’s Oberon Overture and continues as follows, featuring an impressive line-up of young musical talent:

Amy Diack (recorder): 1st Movement from Sammartini’s Recorder Concerto in F. Teacher: Sandra Breschi

Elizabeth Manduell (soprano): Habanera (“L’amour est un oiseau rebelle”) from Bizet’s Carmen. Teacher: Ronel Perks

Rashalia Pather (piano): 3rd Movement from Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G. Teacher: Dr Liezl-Marét Jacobs

Ayesha Seedat (violin): Tchaikovsky’s Violin concerto: Canzonetta. Teacher: Prof Vincenzo lo Castro

Nomalungelo Zubane (soprano): Addio del passato from La Traviata by Verdi. Teacher: Lionel Mkhwanazi

Hluma Luzipo (baritone): If I were a Rich Man from Bock’s Fiddler on the Roof: Teacher: Dr Ros Conrad

Emil Loubser (clarinet): 2nd Movement from Krommer’s Clarinet concerto in Eb. Teacher: Brett Alborough

Theresa Mbatha (soprano): Alleluja Exultate Jubilate by Mozart. Teacher: Lionel Mkhwanazi

Ewan Slabber (piano): 3rd and 4th Movements from Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No.1. Teacher: Dr Liezl-Marét Jacobs

The concert takes place on May 18 at 19h30 in the Playhouse Drama. Tickets R50 (R35 students/learners) booked at Computicket.
