PINKIE & THULILE IN DOUBLE BILL

(Pinkie Mtshali & Thulile Zama)

Well-known and popular performer Pinkie Mtshali, lead vocalist for Durban Divas cabaret trio, teams up with Thulile Zama from the equally popular female jazz ensemble, Heels Over Head, for a double bill programme at Rhumbelow this weekend.

The two productions are Victoria Kay - The Township Diva starring Pinkie Mtshali as Victoria Koekmoer and Big Gals Don't Cry with Pinkie Mtshali and Thulile Zama.

Victoria Kay - The Township Diva is a slick one-woman cabaret presenting Pinkie Mtshali’s musical journey through her soaring soulful dynamic voice with a combination of humour. Some of the songs are original from her latest album Now is the Time and some old-time favourites like, Aint Mis-behavin', Tshilo Tshilo, The Lady is a Tramp, Somewhere over the Rainbow, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Patapata and Let's Call The Whole Thing Off , to name a few.

Big Gals Don't Cry - the voluptuous duo Mtshali promise to sizzle in synch with their exuberant personalities paying tribute to Big Gals through music with a flair of comedy, sharing their experiences both in their personal capacities and as performers.

Music is the mixture of foot tapping and harmonic laidback solos and duets complementing both their diverse experiences ranging from jazz, funk, disco, African and pop music. Songs in the show include: I am Beautiful, Woman, Crazy, Fever, Vulindlela, No Mountain High Enough, Big Spender and It's Raining Men, to mention a few.
