(Diego Mazzi and his
wife, Manuela Bortolameolli)
Well-known Italian outerwear designer, Diego
M, will showcase his exclusive outwear collection on the runway at this year’s
much anticipated Durban Fashion Fair at the Durban Exhibition Centre on August
24.
For his showing on the catwalk Diego Mazzi
has created a capsule collection comprising garments that are handmade using
some of the world’s most innovative and audacious leathers – a coco-printed
nappa with mother-of-pearl glassy effect and spotted leather with a metallic
mosaic that reflects silver and champagne tones.
Sindi Shangase, Business Support Programme
Manager for the eThekwini Municipality Business Support, Tourism and Markets
Unit, said she was excited to announce Diego M’s acceptance: “Diego M is not
only known for his eclectic flair but also his superb tailoring,
state-of-the-art fabrics and skillful crafting and finishing. This is exactly
what we are trying to inculcate in Durban’s emerging and young designers for
whom the Durban Fashion Fair was created. It is only with this level of
sophsitication and expertise that local talents can make their marks in both
the national and international fashion worlds. He represents the perfect role
model for the Durban designers of the future.”

Each
Diego M piece is on trend, unique and elegant with a magical blend of pure
luxury, wearability and urban chic. Diego M creations can be found in
prestigious boutiques in Europe, Russia and the United States. The brand’s own
style centre is located in Lazise, on the banks of Lake Garda in Milan.
The Durban Fashion Fair will showcase unique
garments created by Durban’s design talents – from new designers who are just
finding their feet on the catwalk to emerging talents who were treated to an
internship in Milan, one of the fashion capitals of Europe, following Durban
Fashion Fair 2012. Ten newcomers will be selected for a similar internship this
year.
Shows will also include some of South
Africa’s top designers and fashion brands and invited international fashion
guru, Diego M. The four day Durban Fashion Fair includes workshops, shows and a
buyers' lounge. It will culminate in a sale of garments seen on the ramps on August
25.
The
Durban Fashion Fair will be held from August 22 to 25 at the Durban Exhibition Centre.
Tickets R100 pp per show (R50 for students per show) booked through Computicket.
