Cape Flautist Leonard Heydenrych, pianist Olive Sandilands
present two flute recitals with a charming selection of pieces taken from the
classical and romantic flute and piano literature.
The programme will include works by W A Mozart, Louis Ganne,
Georges Hue and South African Pieter Snyman. Heydenrych and Sandilands are
joined by oboist Margrit Deppe for a trio for flute, oboe and piano by French
composer Philippe Gaubert.
Leonard Heydenrych studied flute in London at the Royal
College of Music with Susan Milan. He is a qualified medical doctor and
ophthalmic surgeon. Olive Sandilands studied piano at the University of
Pretoria and with renowned pedagogues such as Adolph Hallis and Lamar Crowson.
She accompanies various local and international artists, such as the German Klemeyer
Trio and the South Cape.
Margrit Deppe studied oboe in Durban and Basel, Switzerland,
and is currently oboist and English horn player with the KZN-Philharmonic Orchestra.
She runs MusicMap, a music events circulation organization and is music
director at Holy Trinity Church in Durban.
The concerts will take place in two churches in New Germany
and Pietermaritzburg. Entrance is free with donations to churches and
performers.
The first concert takes place on August 16 at 19h30 at the New
Germany Lutheran Church, Callie Road, New Germany, Pinetown. The second concert
will be held on August 17 at 19h30 at the Church of the Cross Lutheran Church,
2 Bester Drive, Hayfields, Pietermaritzburg.
