(Pantsula dancers in
action at uShaka)
The mariners of old set their courses by the stars – and
uShaka Marine World is looking to KwaZulu-Natal’s new and emerging talents to
add some special sparkle this coming festive season.
Announcing this year’s uShaka
Search For The Stars competition in partnership with the Department of Arts
and Culture, head judge and “the Simon Cowell of uShaka”, Wayne Scott, says all
concerned are looking forward to seeing and hearing what the province’s
performers have up their sleeves.
uShaka Search For The
Stars is open to both amateurs and professionals and not only includes
singers (Hip Hop, Kwaito, wedding singers) and dancers (Zulu dancers, Sotho
dancers, Gumboots) but mime artists, jugglers, bands, magicians, and acrobats –
you name it. Search for the Stars
excludes the following acts: Poetry, Drama, Maskandi and Isicathamiya.
Both individuals and groups are invited to audition on the
following dates and times at uShaka Marine World: September 14 and 15 and September
21 and 22.
The finals are scheduled to take place on September 28 at
uShaka Marine World from 09h00.
“Over the past six years, more than 10,000 talented
performers have auditioned and we have created jobs for over 2,500 artists. We
look forward to seeing more talented performers share their magic during the
busy holiday season,” says Scott, who will direct the entertainment team that
will include these competition winners.
