WORD AND IMAGE

Kobus Moolman will facilitate the Word and Image Creative Writing Workshop to be held in the Durban Art Gallery this weekend. (August 24-25)

Drawing inspiration from the exhibition Conversations We Do Not Have: Acquiescence which is currently running in the Durban Art Gallery, this workshop will explore the ways in which word and image relate in order to express the individual voice.

Kobus Moolman teaches creative writing at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban. He was recently the Mellon Writer-in-Residence for three months in Grahamstown, courtesy of Rhodes University. He has published five previous collections of poetry, as well as several plays. He has also edited an anthology of poetry, prose and art by South African writers living with disabilities.

He has been awarded the Ingrid Jonker Prize, the PANSA award for best drama, the DALRO poetry prize, the BBC African Theatre award and the South African Literary Award for poetry.

The Creative Writing Workshop takes place in the Durban Art Gallery, 2nd floor, City Hall, 105 Anton Lembede (Smith) Street, on August 24 and 25 from 09h00 to 16h00.
