Durban
High School presents King of Queen, a production that features a
playlist packed with all the expected and well-loved Queen hits as well as a
few lesser known 'hidden' gems.
DHS
prides itself on its boys being allowed to conceive and create original shows
under the auspices of the drama and music departments, and this is one such show.
The brainchild of Grade 10 pupil Justin James, with the support from a few
fellow grade 10 pupils who have been the creative forces behind lighting and
choreography.
The live
band comprises solely of DHS musicians who between them have performed at Splashy
Fen, The White Mountain Music Festival, the Witness Hilton Arts Festival, the
Durban International Blues Festival and the Heritage Theatre. DPHS old boy
Rorke Kemp will also be leading the way on guitar.
Emma
Devine from Northlands Girls' High (who is a Gateway to Fame finalist) as well
as Reece van Schalkwyk (who was last seen in Can You Feel It) will also be joining DHS vocalists on stage.
The
supper-theatre format show will be staged in the intimate setting of the AJ
Human Room at DHS and a cash bar will be available.
King
of Queen runs
from September 10 to 13 at 19h00 in the AJ Human Room
at DHS (255 St Thomas Road). Tickets R40 booked on 031 277 1500.
