Currently running at the KZNSA Gallery’s Mezzanine Gallery
is an exhibition titled Reference - The
Artists' Photo. The KZNSA requested
all artists to submit A4 photos of their inspiration or an image they may have
taken as reference for an artwork. The results give a fascinating insight into
the process of art making.
"The photograph is an important tool in contemporary
art practice,” says the publicity material. “We live in a world of technology
whereby the photographic medium is a convenient tool for artists to record
their environment to make art. The aim of the exhibition is to allow the viewer
to peak behind the scenes of the artist’s process. To capture a work in
progress or to reference the recording and mapping of an idea, before the
production process."
All work is on sale for R50 with the proceeds going to the
KZNSA.
Reference - The
Artists' Photo runs at the KZNSA Gallery until October 13. The KZNSA is situated at 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood,
