Auditions will be held next week in Durban
for the title role in Think Theatre’s revival of Shakespeare’s Othello, to be staged in 2014
Think Theatre are auditioning for the role
of Othello in their production of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Othello, to be staged in 2014. The company requires a black male
actor between the ages of 25 and 35 to perform in their production, which will
be staged in KwaZulu-Natal, Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Rehearsals begin in January 2014, with
performances from February to March (KZN) and May (Gauteng).
Actors interested in auditioning must
prepare a passage from the play Othello
to be used as an audition piece. They are not required to learn it off by
heart. More importantly than simply memorising the words, is a clear
understanding of the text which must be reflected in their reading of
Shakespeare’s words at the audition.
Auditions will take place on October 22, 23
and 24 at the Rhumbelow Theatre, Cunningham Avenue, Umbilo in Durban.
It is essential to book an audition slot
through Margie Coppen on 083 251 9412, or Clare Mortimer on 073 169 2733.
