On October
30 and 31, the second annual Dancers Love
Dogs charity performance will take place at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre
and once again the audience can look forward to an entertaining evening
featuring top dancers and performers collaborating towards the mass sterilization
of dogs in and around Durban’s rural areas and townships, where this treatment
is not affordable.
Brigitte
Reeve-Taylor (Founder), together with Leigh Meyer (Durban Show Organizer) have
again enlisted voluntary assistance from like-minded people within their broad
networks. Through their appeals, several dance companies and studios in Durban
will be participating in this performance, generously giving of their time
without charge and the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre has also offered the venue at
no cost.
The
performance will showcase works by Durban’s Top Dance Company, The best of
Durban’s Dance Studios, as well as performances by Durban’s favourite theatre
personalities, Shelley Mclean, Melanie Roberts, Marion Loudon, Lisa Bobbert, Liesl
Coppin, Evan Roberts and Take 5, just to name a few.
Since
2012, Dancers Love Dogs has also been
staged in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria and the events have cumulatively
raised R500,000 which has allowed for 1,500 animals to be safely sterilized to
date, with the work continuing regularly. Dancers
Love Dogs has also been registered as a non-profit organization, securing
crucial NPO status that enables corporates to donate, with incentives.
Dancers Love Dogs performances take place on October
30 and 31 at 19h30 at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre. Tickets R100 booked
through Computicket. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the sterilization of
dogs. A raffle will be held on the night with great prizes to be won, donated
by several sponsors. Anyone unable to attend the show may also make a donation
to this very worthy cause. Email dancerslovedogs@gmail.com for banking details and more
