Applications are invited for an Arts &
Culture Co-Ordinator within the eThekwini Municipality. Except where the
contrary applies, appointments made will be in terms of the eThekwini
Divisional Conditions of Services.

44000204. Basic Salary (R230,418.62 – R299,082.97 p.a. (Grade 12)
Job Purpose: Responsible for managing,
promoting and protecting eThekwini Arts and Culture facilities and expressions.
Key Responsibility Areas: Leads the
development and implementation of a local culture policy. Liaises with both the
National and Provincial Departments of Arts and Culture. Similar to the fourth
task develops and manages functional relationships with the local community art
centres and cultural
institutions. Establishes and manages
partnerships with the National and Provincial Departments of Arts and Culture.
Identifies the challenges facing local arts and suggests recommendations for
way forward. Leads the development of a culture around all forms of visual and
performing arts. Develops and manages indigenous technology initiatives in
their various forms. Enhances the rights and status of local artists as well as
assist them. Establishes and conducts regular audit of various arts and
cultural expressions across the City at Ward level.
Essential Requirements: Relevant three year
tertiary qualification, i.e. Diploma or Degree. three years relevant
experience. Preferred Requirements: four years relevant experience.
Work sample and/or psychometric tests may
be undertaken as part of the selection process.
Priority will be given to applicants who
are under-represented in terms of race, gender and disability within the

In addition to the basic salary reflected
above, the Municipality offers a 13th cheque, housing subsidy (subject to
certain conditions), normal pension benefits and generous vacation leave.
