The
Best of My Year - Highlights from Concerts in 2013 is
a concert performance by acclaimed Steinway Artist, pianist Christopher Duigan,
on December 1 at the Hilton College Theatre. The concert is a fund-raising
event in aid of Funda Nenja, a registered NGO promoting appropriate care and
training of dogs amongst the youth in Mpophomeni, Howick (www.fundanenja.co.za)
Duigan has garnered a popular following
through his continued efforts to promote live classical performance over the
last 15 years in KZN and further afield. His concerts now cover a wide range of
musical styles and his approach to the concert experience is an engaging and
'audience friendly' one.
For his performance at Hilton College
Theatre, Duigan takes a personal look at the concerts he has played in the last
year and chooses highlights from them. They include concerts in London as well
as at the Franschhoek Literary Festival, Witness Hilton Arts Festival, Brooklyn
Theatre in Pretoria and Casa Labia in Cape Town. This popular selection
includes music by Chopin, Liszt, Handel, Tchaikovsky and favourites Scott
Joplin's The Entertainer, Dvorak's Humoresque and Beethoven's FΓΌr Elise.
Participants of the Funda Nenja programme
will also give a short demonstration of their dog-handling skills before the
concert and also at interval.
The
Best of My Year - Highlights from Concerts in 2013 takes
