MAXWELL FOR DURBAN

Two-time Grammy® Award-winning soul superstar Maxwell is currently on a tour of South Africa and will appear tonight (December 9) at Wavehouse following numerous requests that he perform in Durban.

To cater for the overwhelming demand by fans across KZN, Castle Milk Stout and Canoc Productions in association with Mzansi Magic and Gagasi 99.5 FM added a Durban concert to Maxwell’s tour.

Maxwell fans are in for a musical treat when this sensational ambassador of soul sings a mix of his earlier classic songs and recent numbers from the first of the BLACKsummers’night trilogy albums. Maxwell is ready to give old fans and new ones a sensory experience that he never fails to deliver.

Maxwell’s music spans the genres of R&B, funk, neo soul and jazz. He released his debut album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite which went on to sell over two million copies, earning him double platinum status and a Grammy nomination. His second album Embrya followed and a live album MTV Unplugged was next. A year later Maxwell released Fortunate, a single written by R. Kelly and featured on the soundtrack for the 1999 film, Life. Maxwell’s third album Now reached No.1 on both the Billboard 200 album chart and Billboard’s R&B album chart. After taking an extended hiatus from the music industry, Maxwell returned with BLACKsummers’Night which became his second album to reach number 1 on the Billboard Albums Top 200 chart. The second album in the trilogy Summers will be out next year.
