Two-time Grammy® Award-winning soul superstar Maxwell is
currently on a tour of South Africa and will appear tonight (December 9) at
Wavehouse following numerous requests that he perform in Durban.
To cater for the overwhelming demand by fans across KZN,
Castle Milk Stout and Canoc Productions in association with Mzansi Magic and
Gagasi 99.5 FM added a Durban concert to Maxwell’s tour.
Maxwell fans are in for a musical treat when this
sensational ambassador of soul sings a mix of his earlier classic songs and
recent numbers from the first of the BLACKsummers’night
trilogy albums. Maxwell is ready to give old fans and new ones a sensory
experience that he never fails to deliver.
Maxwell’s music spans the genres of R&B, funk, neo soul
and jazz. He released his debut album Maxwell’s
Urban Hang Suite which went on to sell over two million copies, earning him
double platinum status and a Grammy nomination. His second album Embrya followed and a live album MTV Unplugged was next. A year later
Maxwell released Fortunate, a single
written by R. Kelly and featured on the soundtrack for the 1999 film, Life.
Maxwell’s third album Now reached
No.1 on both the Billboard 200 album chart and Billboard’s R&B album chart.
After taking an extended hiatus from the music industry, Maxwell returned with BLACKsummers’Night which became his
second album to reach number 1 on the Billboard Albums Top 200 chart. The
second album in the trilogy Summers
will be out next year.
