The KwaZulu-Natal
Quilters Guild is a non-profit organization that will host the 18th National
and International Quilting Festival in 2015 and therefore has to raise the
funds to do so.
The Quilt Academy
Workshops, held every second month at a nominal cost of R100, form part of the
fundraising, as well as covering hall rental fees. The workshops are for all
levels of sewers who now have the opportunity to learn many techniques taught by
teachers with many years of sewing and quilting experience. These teachers
offer their services for free otherwise the workshops would not be possible.
The Guild also
teaches women and men from rural areas how to sew and use a machine in order to
create work opportunities for themselves and thereby generate an income.

The workshops take
place from 09h00 to 15h00 at the Glenwood Presbyterian Church (entrance in
Evans Road), Glenwood. Cost R100 per person. For more details as well as to
