(Andrew Young)
Talented
international saxophonist, Andrew Young and his band will take to the stage for
a free performance at uShaka Marine World Promenade for a show on January 25.
Forming part of his
2014 Coast to Coast South African Tour from Durban to Cape Town, including the
Jazz on the Rocks festival at Tietiesbaai, his show, Jazzin' Around with Andrew Young and the Band, will see Young
performing his unique mix of rock and pop including well-loved songs such as Georgia, Baker Street, Still Got the Blues
and more, accompanied by a five-piece South African band from KZN who will
provide the backing.
Hailing from
England, Young was classically trained in both clarinet and saxophone from the
age of 8. After completing his saxophone and clarinet studies in London, Andrew
moved to Germany to pursue a desire for a broader and more eclectic involvement
in all genres of music and has performed at numerous concerts, functions and
events, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles at the Royal
Festival Hall, London, in 1985.
Young has also made
his name on the African continent when he was invited to participate in Durban
with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic. During this time he also formed his five-piece
Jazz/Funk/Fusion band Let It Flow. He has also performed at various music
festivals in South Africa including, The International Jazz Festival (Cape
Town), Jazzathon (Cape Town), JPL Jazz Festival (Durban), National Arts
Festival (Grahamstown), Rand Easter Show (Johannesburg) to name a few.
He has also
performed with popular artists such as Joseph Shabalala from Ladysmith Black
Mambazo, as well as James Galway and more.
To date, Young has
released nine albums and continues to astound audiences worldwide with his
beautiful instrumental work.
Gather family and
friends and head for uShaka to catch Young for this one day only occasion at
Wahooz and be serenaded by his smooth sounds whilst sipping on a cocktail
surrounded by palm trees and a sea breeze on Durban’s sunny shores.
Andrew Young will
appear from 13h00 to 16h00 on January 25 at Wahooz on the uShaka Marine World
