Rising Star
Performing Arts (RSPA) develops and imparts professional performing arts
programmes to students aged 5 to 19, in Durban and surrounding areas.
All classes teach
clear communication and performance skills. Lessons are wrapped up in a unique,
fun and participative framework that delivers. RSPA offers two fields of
performing arts development, registration for all programmes is Open Now,
places are limited and fill up fast…
Weekly Speech and
Drama Classes: These are designed for the beginner to intermediate young
performer, children who want to have FUN with drama, learn and grow in a safe
nurturing environment and discover their passion for the arts. Classes take
place in Ballito, Umhlanga, Berea, Glenwood, Westville, Kloof, Amanzimtoti –new
areas are being adding to the teaching timetable so keep checking the RSPA
website.
Weekly Specialised
Classes: These classes are for the intermediate to serious young performer, the
student who has found his or her passion and wishes to explore it further, participate
in international exams and grow from a performance perspective. All classes
take place at the central Westville studio, the Westville Theatre.
Musical Theatre: Acting,
singing and dancing programme open to Grades 1 to 12, this class combines the
talent and experience of three professional performers: Shelley McLean, Leigh
Meyer and Gill Brunings.
Theatre Addict
& Advanced Acting: LAMDA QCF Examination Programme specialised
acting/performance training in prep for the international LAMDA performance
exams. Grades 4 to 12.
On Camera Acting: Held
in conjunction with OCA Acting Studio - The OCA programme is designed to run
over a four-term period. Take 1: Basic Audition techniques for Film, TV and
Radio, Take 2: Understanding emotion for Film/TV, Voice Over training, scene
building, Take 3: Improv, Monologue, intermediate audition techniques and
portfolio design. Take 4: The Making of a Film and showcase.
RSPA is affiliated
with London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, New York Film Academy,
Performing Arts Network of South Africa, SA Speech and Drama Association &
the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
