(“The
Angel Gabriel” - wooden sculpture by Jackson Hlongwane)
Due to open on February 9 in the Tatham Art
Gallery in Pietermaritzburg is the Generous
Friends Exhibition.
Through its generous fundraising efforts since
1984, the Friends of the Tatham Art Gallery (FOTAG) has assisted the Gallery to
acquire art works for its permanent collection. This has occurred particularly
at the times when funding from the Municipality for the purchase of art works
has been reduced or cut altogether.
Some of the works on display are recent
acquisitions, such as oil paintings by Heather Gourlay-Conyngham and
photographic prints by Kudzanai Chiurai.
The exhibition will be opened in the Tatham’s
Schreiner Gallery on February 9 at 10h30. Opening Speakers will be Brendan Bell
and Christopher Duigan. Safe parking will be available from the Entrance in
Chief Albert Luthuli Street (Commercial Road)
The exhibition will run until May 25 at
17h00. The Tatham
Art Gallery
is situated opposite the Town Hall in Chief
Albert Luthuli Street, Pietermaritzburg. It is
open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10h00 to 17h00. More information on 033 392
