The first symphony concerts of the KZN Philharmonic in 2014
begin on Thursday, February 20, and so do the popular pre-concert lectures.
Arranged by the orchestra in association with the Friends of
Music, the lectures take place in the Alhambra Room of the Playhouse Theatre
complex, across the road from the Durban City Hall, where the concerts are
held.
The lectures begin at 18h15 and end by 19h00 in good time
for those attending to be in the City Hall for the 19h30 start of the concerts.
The music to be played is discussed by the lecturers, informatively, informally
and often humorously, with music examples.
The entrance fee is R10.
The speakers for this summer season are: Michael Green, classical music critic of
ArtSMart (February 20 and 27) Dr Teddy Pillay (March 6 and 13) and Ted Brien (March
20 and 27)
